i am so convinced that this girl should have been me. The only obstacle was a plane ticket to fly me all the way across the country. i know i've been whining about this forever but i still wish badly i could have gone to that grad with my best guy friend in calgary who looked "super duper hot" in his "immaculate" suit (ray, those were your exact words!). *grrr* so jealous...
not only that, everyone's having their grads now and I feel so left out.

i have a problem with cross-contamination.
no, not with boys and cooties. with white and blue bacteria colonies. the blue ones look like bath beads, although i'm sure no one here at the lab appreciates that perspective. i have a semi-part-time job (does that make it a some-time job?) at my dad's lab where i do all the odd ends stuff like harvest colonies on petri dishes of agar and duplicate double helixes and copy out many long lists of AGCT's and then make them. Since I did promise micah that i'd blog about him, i'll mention that he asked me to clone bigger biceps for him. my response to that is, "sorry dude, no can do, there has to be something substantial there before i can clone anything out of it." so i guess that's the reason why he's at the gym at this very moment working on his biceps. (come on dee...i had to take a jab at that comment ^^)
my hands are getting dry and gross smelling from all the hand-washing i've had to do here. the people here in the white lab coats seem to be petrified of germs, rubbing their hands with 70% ethanol every five minutes. Me, i refuse a drear white lab coat, and am seen wandering around the lab in my siren red sweater. i can just imagine them whispering as i walk by, "that's Dr. Liu's daughter. she's kind of strange..."

comically, i don't get science from science classes. I get life experience.
NEWTON'S FIRST LAW OF INERTIA
states that an inert system will remain in that state until an outside force is applied to effect change.
what i get out of that:
no one situation in life is going to change until you yourself or someone else does something about it. to wait things out is leaving an inert system the way it is. if something bugs you, do something about it, don't wait.
to be continued...
side notes:
- i really really need to finish my choreography for coffeehouse. i messed up royally at dry run and i've gotta practice practice practice!
- an old friend from Boston stopped by recently, we met up for a coffee and a chat. it's nice to catch up with old friends...
- the banner for coffeehouse needs to be finished, which i'll do with joelle this thursday (don't forget cheezmate!), it's gonna look amazing.
- wishing i could have gone to a prom in Calgary =P *ahemRayahem*
